It was the first such voyage in hundreds of years. She was also part of the first all women sailing canoe team to reach Kauai from Oahu.
She was a great woman who passed on Sept. 25, 1994 after an 8 year battle with breast cancer. Aloha, Keani

hypocrites, politicians & toupees

As I watch all these politicians on TV with toupees I wonder....
How can you trust someone who lies to themselves?

food animals thanksgiving

Since we stopped eating most little animals and switching to sea animals only, I have lost 10 lbs., not that I am fat but I felt sorry for the millions of animals that Humans raise to murder and satisfy their desires. Thanksgiving was fun to be with friends but we had to switch to lobster (a-w-w-w-w). When the old granny of our hosts said grace it was all about how lucky WE are. They probibly would have stoned me if I'd brought up blessing all the people in Iraq, Palistine, Africa, Darfur, etc...etc.
I figure... don't eat anything your not willing to kill yourself or your probably a hypocrite.

Plants

I discovered plants really through my botony class. The are under appreciated creatures with souls. I cry when my rich neigbors cut down the ancient ones on a whim.

world's future

Not to good, if the world is lucky Humans might disappear before before all the other beautiful creatures are comsumed.

"Sunshine" the book and movie (1973)
The true story of Jacquelyn Helton (1951-1971)
"Sunshine" is a rare piece of art. Based on a true story, it contains a ton of emotion. Produced in 1973, I caught it one night on TV and left it in the back of my mind. In 1988 I began to live this story right down to Christina Raines similarity to my wife and the taffy colored cat. The only difference was that our love held us together ...she, and the cat, passed on in 1994. Recently I saw an old battered copy of "Sunshine" and how close this "movie" is to the truth. I highly recommend this filmand book as one of the greatest attempts at understanding the love and sadness in life, what it is like to die, and the legacy it leaves in the heart. It is unfortunate that it is not available on VHS or DVD (Hello, Amazon.com) or shown more on TV. This is the compassionate type of media our society and civilization needs so badly to survive.
As many Iraqi civilians die each MONTH as americans suffered in 4 years of war and once on 9-11-2001.
We have replaced one of many brutal dictators with utter chaos... brilliant!!!
I do not blame President Bush but the puppet masters who schemed for control of oil & power - Chaney, Rove and the gang.
To bad there is not oil in Darfur.
